This is a translation summary of the Leon's side on Tales of Destiny Director's Cut for Playstation 2. I don't own this translation. I have found this on the internet and the credits goes for the original author (http://chibimazoku.livejournal.com/tag/destiny+remake+summaries).
[TRANSLATION] Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut Summary (1/3)
ToD: Director's Cut Summary (1/3)
The game starts with a voiceover by Leon.
"My childhood.
I'd look up, and she'd always give me a kind smile.
Time passed, and I grew. There was no longer any need for that smile.
Only, I didn't yet share that point of view.
My father was indifferent to me.
So I wanted to quickly grow into an adult that no longer had to rely on him.
I only had two wishes.
Everything was for the sake of her and independence..."
Hugo's Manor/Darilsheid
Leon finds Marian in the drawing room and says that he doesn't have any missions today. So he thought he'd stay at the house and take it easy. Marian teases him that it wouldn't be right for her to spend the day with a person as young as Emilio.
Leon: What are you talking about? There isn't that much of a difference in our ages.
Marian: I'm happy that you say that, but... It's not just the age difference, right?
Leon: But...
A knight bursts in, saying that he has a mission for Leon: a couple of criminals have been located. Leon snaps at him, saying, "Can't you handle a couple of criminals yourself?" and the knight says "Well, that's what the commander thought so too, but Master Hugo insisted that you be a part of the mission."
Knight: Their names are Rutee Katret and Mary Argent.
Leon: Rutee... Katret?
He goes on to explain that they also have a new person with them. And Rutee seems to have a strange sword.
Leon: Did you hear, Chal?
Chal: Yes, I was listening, young master. That "mysterious sword"... is probably a Swordian.
Leon: Swordians other than Chal and the criminal Rutee Katret, is it...
Chal: But isn't... Rutee young master's only sister?
Leon: No, it's not a sure thing yet. Since I've never met her.
They decide to get ready and leave.
Leon: Do you really think the sword Rutee has is a Swordian?
Chal: I wonder. Until we see it, I can't really say anything.
Leon: We might be meeting one of your comrades. Aren't you happy?
Chal: [embarrassed] Among the Swordians, I'm the youngest. I wonder what it'll be like if we're together again, so...
Leon: [laughs] Even Swordians are really human after all, huh.
As he exits the house, he finds Marian in the front garden.
Marian: Emilio, are you leaving?
Leon: I can't afford to be late.
Marian: In that case, I'll prepare dinner and wait for you.
Leon: Then, I'll be going.
Marian: Emilio, please wait. [checks to see if anyone else is around]
Leon: What is it, Marian?
Marian: Ne, Emilio. It's bothering me, so I wonder if I can say something.
Leon: S, sure...
Marian: The way you talked to that soldier earlier wasn't exactly full of praise. You're a superior officer and you're younger than most. If you take that kind of attitude, no one will connect with you.
Leon: But, that was... he...
Marian: [gently] He what? Please be aware your own position and surroundings.
Leon: [cowed] I get it. Next time I'll be careful.
Marian: If you understand, then I'm glad I said something. Now, take care.
Afterwards, we get a skit.
Chal: As usual, young master can't hold up his head in front of Marian.
Leon: [sulkily] Even though I'm not a child anymore...
Chal: That's right. I think you have to get up to speed! When this mission is over, you should come out and say it! Burst it out!
Leon: Chal... if it came down to it, who do you think I'd pick, you or Marian?
Chal: ...eeeh!
Leon: [amused] It was a joke. Don't take it seriously.
Later:
Leon: I'll be fighting three people... I wonder if it'll be a difficult fight?
Chal: Young master, are you nervous?
Leon: Don't be stupid! There's no way I'd be nervous.
Chal: Of course! There's no one who can wield a Swordian like the Young master! [sparkles]
Leon: Exactly. I'll show them the difference between thieving Masters and myself. Let's go, Chal!
Chal: Yes!
Harmentz
Leon arrives in Harmentz.
Leon: Oi, where are the wanted criminals?
Jobs: Aah?
Will: L-Leon-sama!
Jobs: Well, well, so this is the master swordsman? [sarcastic] Wow, what an early arrival.
Will: O-oi...
Leon: With this kind of guy around, even though I promised Marian...
Chaltier: Being aware of your position and surroundings. You're not forgetting Marian's words, right, young master.
Leon: Hmph, I know.
Will & Jobs: ?
Leon: So, could you enlighten me as to the situation?
Will: When the criminals exited the inn earlier, we surrounded them.
Jobs: [SUPER SARCASTIC] So as you see, there was no reason for the master swordsman to trouble himself to come out here.
This is followed by the usual: Stahn thinking it's all a misunderstanding and trying to talk it out, and the soldiers being unimpressed.
Leon: (... so that's Rutee and her Swordian...)
Chal: I can hear voices... that's Atwight. ... eh... and Dymlos, too?!
Leon: What? It couldn't be... another Swordian?
Chal: Haa, oh no. I've always been bad at dealing with him.
Leon: Is that it... there are two Swordians...
As they're talking, Stahn defeats the soldiers.
Jobs: No way... that's ridiculous.
Leon: Heh. What out-of-practice, rusty soldiers we have here.
Jobs: N-not at all! Now's when we'll display our specialty!
Leon: Aah, if you say so, it must be true. But the fact is, your men were defeated by only three people. I'll take it from here.
The usual scene plays, and Leon defeats the others. He orders them carried off to Darilsheid.
Leon: ...
Leon: Rutee Katret, huh. She really does resemble me. But honestly, I'm relieved. I wondered what I'd do if she was an opponent I couldn't hate at all.
Leon: ...
Leon: ... what's wrong, Chal? You've been quiet since earlier.
Chal: [SIGHS] Yeah, that's right. Because we had to fight against Dymlos and Atwight. And to make matters worse, we totally beat their masters... I'm thinking what they'll say to me after this... Haa...
Walt: [walks up to them] Er, pardon me.
Leon: Who are you?
Walt: I'm the mayor of this village, Walt. Wellll, you really are strong, aren't you. Taking care of that greedy witch Rutee so easily. I suppose you must be a renowned swordsman from somewhere, but...
Leon: My name and details don't matter. .... your business.
Walt: Eh?
Leon: Hurry and tell me your business. If you won't, get out of my sight.
Walt: Well, um, I haven't been given the reward money yet...
Leon: I see. You were the military's informant. Don't worry. Someone from the military will deliver the reward.
Walt: I-is that so. Then, in that case... [FLEES]
Chal: What's wrong, young master? All of a sudden you're in a bad mood.
Leon: It's because I've always been surrounded people like that, who try to flatter me. You know I get fed up with it.
Chal: Yeah, that's true. But holding them at such a distance is...
Leon: Whatever. The mission is over. Let's go back to Darilsheid.
Skits on the way out!
Chal: Your father Hugo-sama... he must know that Rutee is his daughter, right?
Leon: I don't know... But from what I heard when receiving the mission in the manor... Hugo probably knows, but...
Chal: Could it be... he was wanting to give the daughter he never stopped searching for and her little brother a reunion?
Leon: I don't think there's any way he was thinking that...
Chal: ... aah.
Leon: Since earlier, all you've been doing is sighing. Get a grip, Chal.
Chal: But, young master, I don't want to have to do that again!
Leon: ....?
Chal: Dymlos and Atwight... back then in the unit, whether they were together or not, there was jealousy... If Atwight was in a pinch, Dymlos would come running from wherever...
Basically, they were so lovey-dovey that they were disgusting to be around. They'd be making eyes at each other across the room with Chal caught in between, and stuff like that. HE DOESN'T WANT TO GO THROUGH IT AGAIN.
Leon: [slightly stunned] ... is that so...
Chal: [breathing heavily] ... YES.
Seinegald Castle
Just as Leon enters the castle, he runs into Hugo.
Hugo: Are you just returning? You took longer than I thought you would.
Leon: [bows] My apologies, Hugo-sama.
Hugo: i heard the news. It seems you've recovered two Swordians.
Leon: Yes.
Hugo: His majesty will also hear of this. Bring the captured criminals in front of the king.
Leon: Bringing common thieves before the king...?
Hugo: They have committed other crimes as well.
Leon: Even the other crimes I've heard of are only blackmail and things of that degree...
Hugo: You've heard of this as well. The flying dragon accident the other day.
Leon: You mean the flying dragon that was overtaken by monsters mid-flight, the news of which has been suppressed...? You can't mean they...?
Hugo: That's right. His majesty and Sir Dryden will be charging them with that offense.
Leon: But that flying dragon was the fault of the monsters and had nothing to do with them!
Hugo: What is it, Leon? It sounds as though you're siding with the criminals.
Leon: No, that's not...
Hugo: The Swordian the man has. That was what was being transported on the flying dragon.
Leon: Man...? That blond man? Then it has nothing to do with the woman...
Hugo: What are you saying? Those people worked together. Isn't it only natural to think they're associated?
Leon: ......
Hugo: At any rate, the king will speak. They are considering the possibility the outcome will be capital punishment.
Leon: Capital punishment...! [ducks his head] ....... .... Hugo-sama, do... do you know? The names of the prisoners.
Hugo: ... yes, I know.
Leon: If that's the case, then the woman with the Swordian...!
Hugo: That Swordian is something that originally belonged to me. To think that it would be returned to me... I must thank you, Leon.
Leon: A person like you...!
Hugo: [to a soldier] Hey, come here!
Soldier Yessir!
Hugo: Transport the criminals from the dungeon. I'm counting on you.
Soldier: Understood. [goes down the stairs]
Hugo: That's how it is. Bring the criminals before the king. You understand, don't you, Leon. [he leaves for the throne room]
Leon: Hugo, that bastard...! He did know Rutee was his daughter after all.
Chal: But why is he doing this?
Leon: It's how he is. Without a calculated plan, it would be difficult to think of arresting Rutee. Probably because she has a Swordian, he used me... .... and also....
The scenes in the dungeon and the castle are the same. In fact, nothing changes at all until they're on their way back from Straylize.
Darilsheid
This time, we follow Leon when he runs off to get a boat. He runs to the castle, where he encounters Hugo.
Leon: Hugo-sama!
Hugo: Hoh, from your appearance, it looks like something happened at Straylize Sanctuary.
Chal: You told Stahn and the others we were going to go report to Hugo-sama, but.... if possible, it would've been better not to run into him.
Hugo: What is it, Leon? Tell me the situation.
Leon: Tch... [screen fades to black, Leon explains]
Hugo: You let the culprit escape? Honestly, you've embarrassed me.
Leon: What...!
Chal: Please control yourself, young master.
Hugo: Well, in that case, I'll inform the king of this matter.
Leon: No thank you. I will talk to the king myself.
Hugo: You, who failed this mission, think that you can talk to the king alone? Moreover, this situation is no longer a problem for Seinegald alone.
Leon: No, I will explain things to the king myself.
Hugo: ... if you do that, I don't mind, but... really, it would be better if you let me help...
Leon: What are you saying? I don't need your help! I can do this sort of thing without relying on you!
Chal: Y-young master, what are you...
Leon: Keh...
Leon runs past Hugo and into the castle.
Leon: [bows] Excuse my rudeness, your majesty.
King: Leon, what happened with God's Eye?
Leon: Regarding that matter, I have a pressing request of you.
King: All right, what is it?
Leon: The conclusion is that God's Eye was stolen by one of the clergy members.
King: What?! That Hugo. Is this what comes of listening to his advice? I knew it was a mistake to just leave this to a child. [stands up] Dryden. Call for Dryden, now!
Leon: Your majesty!
King: Leon, your work is done here. Stand down.
Leon: Please listen!
King: I do not have time for excuses. The situation must be quickly resolved quickly.
Leon: Your majesty, it is not my intention to make excuses. However, I also do not intend to give up.
King: What?
Leon: The culprit is High Priest Greybaum. At present, he is bringing God's Eye to Kalvalais.
King: Kalvalais?!
Leon: In addition, I returned with a witness to Greybaum's crime. If your majesty calls for a ship to be prepared, I will absolutely bring back God's Eye!
King: Hmm... If you're willing to say that much... all right. I will call for a ship. However, it will take a bit of time. I trust that will not be a problem?
Leon: No. I swear that I shall not disappoint you, your majesty.
Chal: You did it, young master!
Leon: Yeah.
King: I have one question...
Leon: What is it?
King: Has Hugo been informed of this?
Leon: ... why is that?
King: I am the one asking the questions. Answer me.
Leon: ... yes, he has been informed.
King: In that case, I'm relieved. But why isn't he with you? Honestly, leaving this all to you. What an irresponsible man.
Chal: That's... cruel. Young master did it alone, but...
Leon: Chal, shut up.
Chal: But!
Hugo: Your majesty, please don't decide upon my character while I'm not present.
Leon: (Hugo...!)
King: Ohh, Hugo. Why weren't you here?
Hugo: Though he may be foolish, I have a parent's responsibility to Leon to help him out.
Leon: ...!
Hugo: I heard the situation from Leon, so I went and made ready a ship that could soon depart.
King: Ohh, how like Hugo. Is there nothing you can't do? Leon, as I said before, my ship would take time to prepare. Be thankful for your father's affection, and be sure to quickly capture the culprit and bring back God's Eye.
Leon: .... understood. As soon as the ship is prepared, I will depart.
Afterwards:
Chal: ... Young Master... don't let what the king said affect you that much.
Leon: ....
Chal: It's okay. I know how strong you really are! When this mission is over, the king will definitely praise you!
Leon: ... yeah... ... sure...
Leon wants to stop by the manor before they leave.
Hugo's Manor
Marian: Welcome home! You're back early.
Leon: No, I'm still in the middle of the mission.
Marian: Is that so. In that case, how about some tea?
Leon: Thank you. But I have to leave soon, so... I don't know for sure, but I probably won't be coming back to the manor for quite a while.
Marian: All right. And how long do you think it will be?
Leon: I don't know. It could be over quickly, or it could take a while.
Marian: [turns to make sure not one else is around, then moves closer] Raise your head and cheer up, Emilio.
Leon: Eh?
Marian: Something bad happened, didn't it. ...something to do with your father, too.
Leon: W-what are you saying? ...that's not...
Marian: It's been that way since you were a child. Whenever it has to do with your father, you make that face. Hugo-sama... your father's name is too great, and brings too many distasteful memories, but... but even so, you are you.
Leon: Marian... but I'm...
Marian: ...... Emilio, if things get too difficult... how about returning to your old name?
Leon: ...!! What are you saying, Marian? I absolutely can't return to my old name!
Marian: Ne, Emilio. I remember the day you decided to change your name. Up until then, you probably had a lot of hardships... but I thought you did well. So...
Leon: Marian, please don't say that.
Marian: Emilio...
Leon: It's all right... it seems like I've forgotten what it is I want to do. I want to show everyone that I'm not just Hugo's son -- I'm me. For that sake... I'm Leon Magnus!
Marian: I understand. It's not someone else's decision. It's yours. If that's the case, don't hang your head anymore. Do your best, Emilio. And if things get difficult, it's okay to cry. If you do, you'll feel better.
Leon: There's no way I'd cry...
Marian: [giggles] Emilio, what about the time?
Leon: Aah. I'll have to be going.
Marian: Take care.
Leon: [starts to leave, then turns back] I'm going, Marian. And soon, my mission will be over and I'll come back home. [leaves]
Marian: Despite everything, you've grown up... Time passes quickly, doesn't it.
On The Boat
Chal: Iyaaaaaa, the ocean's so vast~ it feels good!
Leon: ...
Chal: It's nice to journey on a boat. You should enjoy yourself, young master!
Leon: ... Chal, this isn't a sightseeing trip. We have to take back God's Eye at all costs. Try not to forget that.
We get sepia toned images of Hugo and Leon in front of the King, then him saying goodbye to Marian.
Chal: Ne, young master, is it okay if I ask you something?
Leon: What is it?
Chal: Aren't you going to tell Rutee that you're her little brother? Now that you know for sure.
Leon: I don't like her. So it's not important to mention.
Chal: But earlier, when Hugo talked of Rutee like that...
Another sepia-toned image.
Chal: Young master, didn't you get angry?
Leon: I was just angry because it was him. How to say it... maybe I should say it's because I caught a glimpse of his true feelings towards me.
Chal: Is that it... huh?
Leon: ... what is it, Chal...?
Chal: Dymlos is calling. Let's return to the cabin.
Leon: [turns green] ...urgh.
Chal: Aah, that's right, Young Master gets horrible motion sickness!
Leon: ..........
Chal: W-what should I do? Should we go back inside?
Leon: Chal...
Chal:Leon: You go back alone...
Chal: Eh...
The scenes resume as usual until after Radislowe.
Cherik
We follow Leon out of Balk's office.
Leon: That Stahn! He keeps pissing me off.
Chal: Why do you hate Stahn so much?
Leon: You should be able to tell, Chal! Because of his crime on the flying dragon and his government service, it's obvious he's trying to get friendly with me! He's only thinking of my position as Hugo's son.
Chal: I really don't think that's the case with Stahn, but...
Leon: Hmph. Eventually, he'll turn out the same as all the others. [a man approaches] Who the hell are you? ... is what I'd say, but it's useless with the people here.
???: Mister, are you looking for something? Don't you want some information?
Leon: Information?
Chal: Young master, let's stop this. He looks suspicious.
Leon: Hurry up and tell me. What the hell do you know?
Information Broker: Hold on a second there. You don't think I'd give it up for free?
Leon: Heh.... that's the way it is. Name your price.
Chal: YOUNG MASTER?!
Information Broker: Is it okay to say that kind of thing? It might be false info.
Leon: If it's from someone as "trustworthy" seeming as you, I'm not worried. Besides, I have more confidence in it than free information.
Information Broker: I get it. Don't worry, my information isn't fake.
[SCREEN FADES OUT]
When it comes back, the others are leaving Balk's office. The scene progresses as usual.
Kalviola
While everyone else stays at the inn, Leon goes to walk around Kalviola for a bit. When they get to the roof of one of the buildings, Leon rests his arms on the wall and leans over.
Chal: What is it, young master?
Leon: Hey, Chal. Don't you think the people of this country are really impressive? They live well in a desert like this. I don't think I could manage it.
Chal: That's definitely true. If they didn't cooperate, they wouldn't be able to live.
Leon: ...... [he straightens up] Chal, I've said it a bunch of times already, but I have to complete this mission no matter what.
Chal: Yes. It has a special importance to you, doesn't it?
Leon: That's right. If I do this, then I'm not just Hugo's son... I'll be Leon Magnus, a separate person. And if I do that, then...
Chal: ... you want to meet with Marian?
Leon: [embarrassed] What are you asking, Chal...?
Chal: Sorry.
Leon: ... about that question earlier, even I don't know.
Chal: Earlier...? You mean the one about living in the desert?
Leon: Yeah. Everyone cooperating to live... I wonder if that's true. Living in this harsh desert is unnatural, don't you think? My thoughts are a little different than Chal's. Isn't it that they've abandoned their burdens in order to live?
Chal: Abandoned...?
Leon: Yeah, that's it. That's why they're strong. Or is it the opposite. Only the strong have survived.
Chal: Why are you saying...?
Leon: I don't know... I just have the feeling I'll have to make a choice like that someday too... When I think I might make the wrong choice, I...
Chal: Young master. It's okay. I'm sure you'll make the right choice. And besides that, I'll be with you. So young master should do whatever young ,aster thinks of as right. Even if you do make the wrong choice, I'll carry half the regret.
Leon: Half of it, huh... I guess I'm saved.
There are two skits here, but Chal is difficult to understand in both of them. I'll come back later, I guess.
Kalviola Straylize Temple
Scenes are the same until Stahn gets petrified and Leon runs off after Greybaum.
Leon: Dammit! Where did Greybaum go?! With that big of a lens... it could only be moved though the front entrance.
Chal: Young Master, is it really all right?
Leon: Grr...
Chal: You understand, right?!
Leon: Shut up, Chal...
Chal: But at this rate... Stahn and the others will be!
Leon: Yeah, I know. I know, okay! But right now the most important thing is returning God's Eye!
Chal: But...
Leon: ... even right now, Greybaum is escaping! Stop talking and let's hurry!
They make it outside, but...
Leon: This is...!
Chal: It looks like Greybaum escaped from here after all.
Leon: Dammit, can we get him in time?!
He runs to the entrance to the city.
Leon: Where did he go...?!
Chal: I can't see him anywhere...
Leon: Tch...!
Chal: It's regrettable, but there was no foreseeing it. Young master, let's go back. I'm worried about Stahn and the others.
Leon: [he starts walking back, then stops] ... no, it's no good. If I have to worry about burdens, I'll never complete this mission.
Chal: Eh?
Leon: This sort of thing will definitely happen again. I'm discarding them, Chal!
Chal: Eh, but...! Is that really all right?!
Leon: [turns to leave the city, but stops when he sees Balk and his subordinate] Balk?!
Balk: If it isn't Leon! So you did come to Kalviola after all. So, did you find what you were looking for?
Leon: .... no. We found it inside of the sanctuary, but the culprit snatched it away again.
Balk: Is that so... which reminds me, what happened to the people with you?
Leon: They're still in the sanctuary. Fighting with monsters.
Balk: And you're going after the culprit?
Leon: Yeah, that's what I intend.
Balk: All right, if that's the case, I'll help too. [turns to his subordinate] Go with Leon to pursue the culprit. Additionally, contact the mercenaries outside the city and tell them to come to the sanctuary.
Subordinate: I understand. What about you, Balk-sama?
Balk: The mercenaries and I will go rescue Leon's comrades.
Leon: Stop it. Those people are no longer necessary to the mission. That's not something that'll change.
Balk: Even if that's true, it's not like I can just abandon them, right? [starts heading inside the city]
Leon: Why? You live in this desert, you so you should understand! Do you intend to become a victim yourself by rescuing a burden?!
Balk: It's true what you say... but my way of thinking is different. If someone becomes a victim, then there's no point to the foundation I've built. I want to think that there doesn't have to be a reason to save people.
Leon: There doesn't have to be a reason...?
Balk: Yeah.
Leon flashes back to Stahn saving him from the monster.
Balk: Well, I'm going. You be careful, too.
Leon: Please, wait... I'll come, too.
Balk: It's okay to let the culprit go?
Leon: What I do is my business. Besides that, if we don't hurry...
Balk: [to his subordinate] After you've contacted the mercenaries, collect information on the escaped culprit.
Subordinate: Sir. [leaves]
Balk: Then, let's go. Don't expect anything from the mercenaries.
Leon: Heh. If you're in trouble, I'll save you.
Back to where the rest of the party is still fighting.
Rutee: All right, this guy's the-- huh?
Leon: [runs in] This one looks like the last. Let's go!
Rutee: Aah! What are you doing, stealing my line!
There's a battle with one last basilisk.
Rutee: Hey, where did you go off to?! And besides that, why is that person with you?
Leon: Forget that, is Stahn okay?
Philia: If he doesn't return to normal...
Rutee: H-hey, don't say that sort of thing, Philia.
Leon: Whatever, just hurry and use a Panacea Bottle!
Philia: Y-yes!
When Phlia uses the panacea bottle, Stahn starts to fall over, and Leon catches him.
Leon: Stahn! [shakes him] Oi, Stahn. Wake up, Stahn! ...!
Rutee: Hey... gimme a break. Stahn, please wake up!
Rutee: Oh no...
Leon: ... he's sleeping.
Everyone: ...
Scenes continue as normal.
Boat
Chal: Young master, are you all right?
Leon: Yeah, probably-- urgh!
Chal: Look out into the distance! Come on, the distance.
Leon: ...
Leon's seasickness gets the better of him for a minute, but he eventually recovers.
Leon: [breathing heavily] ... I'm feeling better.
Chal: Are you really all right? Why don't you rest inside for a bit.
Leon: Hey, Chal... Since we left Kalvalais, I've been thinking...
Chal: About... Stahn and the others?
Leon: Yeah... I'm honestly confused.
Chal: Isn't it a good thing to have sincere people around you?
Leon: I... know that. But until now, it's just always been me and Chal. The two of us were able to do everything. When I was a child and met you, it was then that I really began to live.
Chal: [embarrassed] That's an exaggeration!
Leon: No, Chal. That's what I really think. So, when I think of them as friends, and then you...
Chal: .Thank you. You've been worried about me. But that's not the case, young master! I'm happy for you.
Leon: Happy...?
Chal: Until now, young master's dreams have been too small.
Chal: You've wanted to surpass Hugo-sama. You've wanted to be with Marian. But just that won't do! Wanting to go trips with friends, or go shopping with them. That kind of thing trivial is good too.
Leon: No, but...
Chal: When I was a human, I wasn't able to do that kind of thing. Because of the war. Dymlos and the others weren't friends, they were war comrades. Besides, if young master really wants, I'll be there too to have fun with.
Leon: [laughs] Honestly, what an awful explanation.
Noischat
Once more, we stay with Leon this time when the others go off (this time for ice candy). We get to see him just standing around in Elaine's mansion. First, he keeps almost falling asleep. Then he practices his swordsmanship.
Leon: Chal, isn't it a bit hot?
Chal: [sighs] I can't tell if it is or not, young master.
Leon: Hmph, in any case, I'm thirsty.
Maid: In that case, should I get you some tea?
Leon: Is it iced?
Maid: Ah, n-no, the only thing I can bring out quickly is hot tea...
Leon: Damn, even though I want something cold. Hey, Chal.
Chal: ............
Maid: If you want something cold, there's the city's ice candy...
Leon: But there isn't any in this house, right?
Maid: Right... But I could quickly go buy some...
Leon: Wait, it'd be bad if there wasn't anyone left in the house. But if I left here and Elaine came back, it'd be troublesome...
Maid: Um, if it's all right, if Elaine-sama comes back, I'll tell her that you were here. And then she could wait for you and the others to come back.
Leon: In that case, it's not a problem. I'll step out for a moment.
Maid: Yes, take care.
Chal: ... well, there's no helping it, huh.
Skit:
Chal: Young master, young master.
Leon: What is it? You're so loud.
Chal: I wonder what ice candy tastes like! It sounds good!
Leon: Is that right... [looks depressed] Chal can't eat it.
Chal: So, young master. If it's good, you have to tell me!
Leon: All right, I will.
When Leon gets to the vendor...
Ice Candy Vendor Welcome! What flavor do you want?
Leon: ........
Vendor Sir...?
Leon: ..............
Vendor Sir!
Leon: Ah, no, it's not that I particularly want one...
Chal: Young Master, stop being embarrassed and just buy one!
Leon: [blushes] A-ahh... that's right. Excuse me... I'll have...
Girl [SCREAMS]
Leon: [turns] What?! [A girl is being menaced by a monster.]
Vendor: A-a monster!
Chal: Young master, let's help her!
Leon defeats the monster.
Girl: T-thank you! [runs off]
Chal: I'm worried about the state of the city. Let's go take a look.
They head back to the city proper, where they see people fleeing. Leon stops a man.
Leon: Hey, you. What's going on?!
Man: I-I don't know! All of a sudden, monsters started coming up out of the ocean!
Leon: About how many of them?
Man: Swarms!
Leon: Dammit, where did Stahn and the others go?! I won't be able to take care of this alone!
Chal: ...fufu.
Leon: What are you laughing about at a time like this, Chal?
Chal: Ah, no, that's right. I wonder where everyone went?
Leon: Besides that, I'm worried about Elaine. It'd be good if was safe, but...
Man: If you're talking about Elaine-san, I just saw with some people at coliseum.
Leon: Really?
Man: Like I'd lie about that! Can I go, already?!
Leon: All right, go. [man runs off]
Chal: Do you think the people Elaine was with could be Stahn and the others?
Leon: I hope that's the case. All right, let's go to the coliseum.
Scenes continue as usual.
Meanwhile, in the land of skits:
Chal: By the way, that girl in the park you saved from the monster... [hearts] Don't you think she liked you?
Leon: What are you saying?!
Chal: I mean, you were really cool back there! You skillfully took care of the monster and left without even giving her your name!
Leon: That really wasn't my intention.
Chal: But that was really cool, wasn't it? [sparkles] Stahn definitely couldn't have done it! As expected from Young Master!
Leon: [embarrassed] That's enough, Chal!
The plot continues with no extra scenes until they're on the boat to Aquaveil.
Chal: Aquaveil really is far away after all, isn't it.
Leon: Now that you mention it, before you met me, Chal, you were in Aquaveil...
Chal: That's right. But to honest I don't have many good memories.
Leon: .... won't you tell me?
Chal: [nervous laugh] I don't think it's a very nice story. But besides that, in Noischat, you and dealt with Stahn and the others really well!
Leon: [blushes] Don't change the subject.
Chal: Mou, don't say that. Young master cooperated with everyone! It looked like lots of fun.
Leon: ... heh, don't be stupid. But you know, Chal... there's also not very nice things about me.
Chal: What?
Leon: Rutee.
Chal: What do you mean?
Leon: That woman... she's my older sister, but she's hard to handle... there's no helping it...
Chal: Young Master...?
Leon proceeds to have another attack of seasickness, and makes Chal promise he won't tell the others about it, which is when Stahn comes out to talk about "guy things."
Sea Cave
We follow the others when Stahn and Rutee fall into the hole. At first, Leon sighs over their stupidity, but then he suggests going back to Shiden to get some rope.
Leon: Oi, are they okay?
Philia: Yes, I can hear their voices. It seems they're somehow safe.
Leon: What a troublesome woman.
Philia: Leon-san, please don't say that kind of thing. We have to find a way to help them...
Leon: At this depth, it would be difficult for either them to climb up for for us to climb down. We should return to Shiden and get some rope.
Philia: Eh? Ah, yes...
A skit:
Leon: ... those idiots... Why am I this worried... ... I don't need this...
Philia: What's wrong, Leon-san? Since earlier, you've looked a bit...
Leon: It's nothing!
Chal: Young Master, I'm sure Stahn and Rutee are all right. So calm--
Leon: WHO'S WORRIED ABOUT THOSE TWO?! I'm not thinking about that at all!
On the way to Shiden is when the infamous bath skit happens.
Philia: Chaltier-san and Leon-san really are close, aren't they?
Leon: Well, we've known each other for a long time.
Chal: [sparkles] Yeah, that's right. From the moment we wake up to the time we're in the bath, we're together!
Philia: E-even in the bath...
Leon: Chal, don't say random things!
Chal: Honestly, it's an example, an example.
Philia: [weakly> In the bath... [leaves]
Leon: If weird rumors get started, it's your fault, Chal.
They end up at the ruler of Shiden's (read: Johnny's dad's) house.
Assistant: Do you have some sort of business?
Philia: I'm sorry this is so sudden. We're searching for some rope.
Leon: If you have some, would you be willing to give it to us?
Assistant: Saying that kind of thing all of a sudden is troublesome. And looking at you, you're foreigners, aren't you...
Philia: .............
Leon: Wait a second, that doesn't have any bearing on this!
Johnny's Dad: Did something happen, guests?
Assistant: ! Master, weren't you going out?
Johnny's Dad: I don't mind, since we have foreign guests.
Philia: Thank you very much. The truth is...
[Fade to black for explanation.]
Johnny's Dad: I see, I see. I apologize for making you give a long explanation even though you're in a hurry.
Leon: Then, will you give us a rope?
Johnny's Dad: I believe there should be some at the harbor. [to the assistant] Sorry, but could you quickly get some?
Assistant: H-huh?! Yes... [goes to do so]
Johnny's Dad: By the way, are you folks from Seinegald?
Philia: Yes, you know a lot, don't know.
Leon: Oi, Philia!
Philia: Ah! I'm sorry, sir. Please forget what I just said.
Johnny's Dad: Previously, I would have had no choice but to arrest you, but... Ha ha ha. Don't worry.
Philia: I'm so sorry.
Assistant: I've brought it.
Philia: You've really saved us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Johnny's Dad: Good. Now, hurry to your friends.
Leon: Let's go, Philia.
The scene switches back to the cave.
Philia: Stahn-san, Rutee-san, are you all right?
Mary: We've brought you a rope. Grab hold!
And things continue as usual, save for an extra scene after the boss battle:
Chal: That's the biggest monster I've ever seen.
Leon: Heh. The size of the enemy doesn't matter.
Chal: Because Stahn, Rutee, and the others are with you... is it?
Leon: N-no! It's because of me!

Boat to Toukei
Chal: For the young master, just having to ride boats on this journey is also a fight, isn't it.
Leon: It's because Aquaveil is an island country. Traveling by ship this much is a sacrifice I have to make.
Chal: Hey, young master. By the way, why do you think Johnny-san is cooperating with us?
Leon: Why are you asking me?
Chal: You know that I was in Aquaveil before.
Leon: Yeah, what about it?
Chal: In this land, I was treated as a a treasure, but... there was a time when I, as a sword, was used by someone I didn't wish to be used by.
Leon: Someone you didn't wish...? What do you...
Chal: I don't even talk that much about that time's things to you, young master. Just, the one who rescued me from that state of affairs was Johnny. It was probably more than ten years ago, but...
Leon: So what... are you trying to say...
Chal: That's... if there was anything that I could... do for Johnny...
Leon: ... is that so. In that case, would it be better if I gave you back to Johnny?
Chal: Wha-- why would you say that?!
Leon: [angry] Isn't that what you were saying? You're a Swordian. Saying that you want to be held by someone other than me is saying that you want to change masters!
Chaltier: ... that's not.
Leon: ...but I have absolutely no plans of relinquishing you.
Chaltier: .....! Ah... no, you're wrong. That's not it. When I say I want to be useful...
Leon: That's enough of that... shut up for a while.
The scene transitions into the Johnny and Fayt scene. There are no extra bits until after the Tiberius boss battle, when everyone is boarding the ship to Phandalia.
Toukei Port
Chal: Young master, can I have a moment?
Leon: What is it all of a sudden, Chal?
Chal: Thank you for earlier.
Leon: Earlier?
Chal: When you lent me to Johnny. Young master gave me a chance to return Johnny's favor.
Leon: I just... didn't want to disregard your feelings, that's all.
Chal: [emotional] Young master.
Leon: It's not that big of a deal. Hurry up and forget about it...
Chal: Young master, I wanted to return Johnny's favor, right.
Leon: It doesn't matter what the reason was.
Chal: No, I want you to hear this. The favor of Johnny's I wanted to return was getting to meet you.
Leon: What?
Chal: It was so that from now on as well young master and I could have the relationship of a Swordian and a master. No matter what, when I think of other people, it's no good. ...It's because I want to be young master's sword.
Leon: Chal...
Chal: So, young master, from now on as well, let's be together.
Leon: Heh... [teasing] Unless I start to dislike you, Chal.
Chal: Yes!
Things proceed as usual.
Tunnel Under Heidelberg Castle
Leon: Family, huh...
Chal: What is it?
Rutee: What are you doing? Come on, hurry up and get moving.
Leon: Yeah, I know. [Rutee leaves] ... when this mission is over, I probably won't see her again...
There's a follow-up skit as well.
Leon: ...
Chal: What's wrong?
Leon: I always through that I wanted to surpass Hugo, but... lately, I feel like that doesn't matter... Maybe I've become weak while I've been with Stahn and the others.
Chal: No, it's the opposite. Young master, you've become stronger!
Leon: Stronger...?
Chal: Yeah! There's no need for you to be concerned with Hugo any longer.
Leon: Do you really... think so?
Chal: Maybe... if Hugo sees the young master has become strong...
I can't even translate this bit. It's so hilarious. Chal proceeds to imitate both Hugo (super deep voice) and Marian (super falsetto) praising Leon. Leon gets all flustered and tells him to stop that, already.
Scenes are the same until the Flying Dragon on the way back to Darilshied.
Flying Dragon
After Stahn leaves the room, the scene continues with Rutee and Leon.
Rutee: By the way, I never thanked you.
Leon: What are you talking about?
Rutee: The sea cave in Shiden. When the ground collapsed and Stahn and I fell in the hole.
Leon: Because you were doing unnecessary things.
Rutee: At that time, you were the one who thought of going to go get a rope, right? Philia told me. Anyway, the thanks for that time -- I never got around to saying it. Thank you.
Leon: It's not really something you have to thank me for. It was for the sake of the mission.
Rutee: Well, if you say that, I guess it doesn't matter, but.
Leon: ...hey, can I have a minute?
Rutee: Hm, what is it?
Leon: ... do you have a home to go back to?
Rutee: What's this, all of a sudden?
Leon: What it sounds like.
Rutee: To be honest, my home's an orphanage.
Leon: ...I see. So that's your place to return to.
Rutee: That's a weird reaction. Normally, someone would ask "you're an orphan?" or something.
Leon: ... not really. Since I don't have any interest in it.
Rutee: Oh, really. Then don't ask.
Leon: So... you don't have any interest in... finding out about your real family and that kind of thing.
Rutee: Well, I guess I'd be interested. Like, what kind of people my parents are. Whether I have any siblings, for example.
Leon: ......... Rutee...
Rutee: Huh? I wonder if we're landing soon. [stands up] But, you know, my family is everyone at the orphanage. I'm happy just with that.
Leon: ... is that so.
Rutee: Now that you mention it, you were about to say something, weren't you.
Leon: We'll be landing soon. This long mission will finally be over.
Rutee: ... hey, don't brush it off. You were going to say something, right?
Leon: .... so you're an orphan. It's no wonder you exude ill-breeding.
Rutee: Haa. You're really a disagreeable guy after all.
Leon: I don't want to hear you say that.
Darilsheid
After Stahn leaves to say goodbye to Rutee:
Leon: Honestly, what a busy guy.
Chal: [mischievous] I wonder if there's something between Stahn and Rutee?
Leon: Stop that stupid speculating.
Chal: But Young Master, that's your sister. Don't you have any interest?
Leon: ... I don't. Besides, Rutee and I are different. Anyway, Chal, let's go home. Marian is waiting.

Darilshied
Leon: I've been wondering if my eyes might be going bad.
Chal: Well, Hugo-sama wears glasses... wouldn't they suit Young Master?
Leon: ...... well, wearing glasses might not be that bad. [his skit card turns around]
Chal: [sparkles] Uwaaah. It really does suit you! [hearts] You'll probably get a lot of girls this way.
Leon: T-that's not the point! It's a bad idea after all.
Leon gets assigned a new mission in Harmentz by the king and Dryden. Two knights will be coming with him. The first introduces himself as Will, and says it's an honor to be working with Leon-sama. The other, Jobs, seems wary of taking orders from someone young than him. Will apologizes for Jobs's behavior. The two argue, and Dryden yells at them for behaving like that in front of the king. Dryden explains to Leon that these two were chosen because they're both candidates for the position of commander. Leon is to report back on their behavior during the mission, and choose which will receive the position.
As they're leaving, Will offers his hand to Jobs. He wants to make sure there'll be no bad feelings no matter who makes it to commander. Leon thinks back to Stahn offering his hand. Jobs scoffs, but shakes his hand anyway, and says that they should both do their best.
Leon tells them that he wants to see how they work on a regular mission in order to gauge their suitability for the position, so he'll be giving them a lot of freedom. Jobs says in that case, he'll just do as he pleases. Leon says not to misunderstand-- he wants to see how well they can work together. Surprised, Jobs says there's no way he and will can work together.
Leon: In that case, you're finished with this mission.
Jobs: Tch... fine. Working with Will is fine.
Will: Working together... what's your aim?
Leon: Don't bother thinking about things that don't concern you. It's time to leave.
Chal wonders if it'll be okay if either of them become captain, and Leon says that's up to him to decide.
Chal: Iyaaa, Will and Jobs are young, aren't they.
Leon: What, you're talking like an old man.
Chal protests, saying that it's exciting to see them compete for the position like this.
Leon: Now that you mention it, Chal, what was your position in the military?
Chal: I'm a major.
Leon: Major...? [looks worried about this fact] Chal was...?
Chal: Hey, what's with that look?!
Harmentz
In the inn, Jobs and Will are arguing.
Leon: What is it? Did something happen?
It turns out that the bishop they're supposed to be escorting to Straylize has a companion with him who has been tired out by the journey so far and has become ill. The Bishop won't leave while his apprentice is in this condition-- even though it's important that they DO leave. Will says they'll just have to carry the sick apprentice, but Jobs argues that it's hopeless while they're in that condition. Will is concerned about the mission and letting their commander down.
Jobs: What the hell kinda connection does that have?! Is a person's life less important to you than your mission?!
Will: No! I'm not saying to go that far. But remember His Majesty's words. The importance of this mission is great. He won't accept mistakes.
Bishop: ......
At Chal's suggestion, Leon goes and gets Walt and insists that he look after the sick apprentice while they take the Bishop to the temple. Both the knights and the Bishop agree with this solution.
Straylize Forest
Leon finds the knights and the Bishop staring at the view of Straylize Temple.
Leon: What are you doing?
Jobs: It looks like the Bishop's a little tired too, so we're taking a short break.
Will: Look what you're saying. It's because you said you wanted to look at the temple, isn't it?
Leon: It's not like we have free time. We're leaving.
Will: Ah, yessir.
They begin to leave, when Leon suddenly shouts to wait and draws Chal. There's a roar.
Will: A m-monster!
The ugly green goat thing leaps out of the forest and pushes Leon to the edge of the cliff.
Jobs: Hold on, I'm coming!
Will: Wait, Jobs! Right now the most important thing is to look after the Bishop! We have to leave this fight to him!
Jobs: Don't be stupid!
Will: Think about it! We're here to get the Bishop to the temple!
Jobs: What're you thinking?! That's got no relation to...!
Will: Stand down, Jobs!
Jobs: Tch...
Bishop: I-is that really all right?
Will: There's no problem. We must leave now. [he and the bishop move offscreen]
Jobs: [hesitates and turns to Leon] I'll definitely be back to help. Stay alive until then!
Leon thinks of himself leaving the petrified Stahn behind.
Leon: Looks like they left. So, Chal, are you ready?
Chal: Yeah!
One fairly difficult battle later...
Chal: Now what?
Leon: I have to make sure the mission is completed. We're going to Straylize Temple.
Straylize Temple
Philia: You're all right, Leon-san.
Jobs: Thank goodness. I was just thinking about going back to help.
Leon: Hmph. Of course I'd be fine.
Philia: Leon-san, and you two as well, thank you for bringing the Bishop here.
Bishop: For my apprentice, and for in the forest, I must truly thank you. Thank you very much. I'm sure both of you will make wonderful commanders.
Philia: Then, we'll be off. [she and the bishop leave for the temple proper]
Jobs: Wonderful commanders... somehow that's good to hear.
Will: That's right. But it's probably already been decided who'll be promoted.
Jobs: What are you saying?
Leon: Oi, stop it. With this, your mission is over. Give your report to the king. Head back to Seinegald Castle.
Seinegald Castle
Dryden and the king congratulate Leon on a mission well done, and ask him for his decision. Leon explains that Jobs is always thinking of the welfare of his companions and superiors, and that Will won't let anything distract him from his mission. Both these qualities are things he feels are important in a commander. Dryden agrees and asks for his final decision.
... yeah, they actually make you, the player, choose. UH. I chose Jobs. Leon explains that while he would have previously thought caring for one's comrades as less important than the mission itself, he now thinks differently. This is something he learned on his journey. Comrades are extremely important-- they give you the strength needed to fulfill the mission.
Jobs: Is it really okay to choose me?
Leon: Do you have a problem with my decision?
Jobs: Well, no, that's not it...
Leon: Don't worry about Will. I'm sure he'll make it to commander as well.
Jobs: Is that so. Thank you very much. I'll be trying my best to become as good as you.
Leon: Hmph.
Jobs: Also, I'm glad you trusted me to watch your back.
There's a skit with Chal and Leon playing shiritori.
Hugo's Manor
Dinner time!
Marian: How is it?
Leon: Really good.
Marian: Really? Then today's cook is worthy of praise, too.
Leon: Today's cook? It's not the usual one?
Marian explains that today, she made dinner, because the cook is on vacation. Leon is extremely impressed, and offers to help her out while she's doing the cooking by helping her shop for groceries, but she says that won't do at all. But he insists that she's so busy all the time that he can't just sit back and do nothing while she works, and she laughs and agrees that she can't refuse an offer like that.
We're treated to a series of rather adorable scenes as Leon and Marian go shopping (he very carefully straightens his clothes and combs his hair before she joins him). One of the female shopkeepers obviously notices Leon. Marian comes over and musical notes at him, and he blushes and ducks his head. At one point, they run into some knights, and Leon talks to them, but gets embarrassed-- he's holding the grocery bags, after all. Marian laughs. Eventually, they go to the port.
Leon:Marian: [sighs] ......
Leon: ... what is it, Marian?
Marian: This ocean hasn't changed one bit since I came to the manor. But there are things that have changed.
Leon: ?
Marian: An Emilio who carries my baggage. An Emilio who talks to his fellow knights. I'm honestly surprised. It's like you suddenly became an adult.
Leon: Eh... w-what do you mean?
Marian: I know. Emilio, turn around.
Leon: Eh, why?
Marian: It's okay. Just do it.
Leon: ... [does]
Marian: [puts her back up against his and measures their heights] See, you've gotten taller than me.
Leon: ...!
Marian: That little Emilio who was always following me around... doesn't exist anymore.
Leon: Marian...
Marian: It's not right to keep thinking of you as a child all of the time. [she hesitates] From now on, I won't call you Emilio anymore. The one who employs me is Leon Magnus-sama, after all.
Leon: What are you saying all of a sudden, Marian...!
Marian: Please understand, Leon-sama. This is my distinction. My role as a mother is over. You've already become a wonderful man.
Leon: ......
Marian: Please understand.
Leon: ... yes, I understand.
Marian: The wind has become cold. Let's go back to the manor soon. [leaves]
Chal: Young Master... are you all right?
Leon: Yeah... somehow. It's a strange feeling. Hugo doesn't have any power, and everyone recognizes me for me. And Marian... ...I feel something inside me. What...
Chal: That must be... the happiness of having what you wished for. I've also had that experience.
Leon: That's right...! What I've wished for is finally in my hands.
Later, Leon gets called on a new mission. As he's leaving, Marian says that Hugo-sama will be returning today. Leon isn't exactly happy about this.
Chal: You never knew your mother, Young Master?
Leon: She died when I was really young. But I once saw a portrait of her.
Chal: Ehhhhh, what kind of mother was she?
Leon: She was a beautiful person. When I looked at it, I wondered what kind of voice she had... what kind of laugh.
Seinegald Castle
Dryden and the king assign Leon to go to Cresta and take care of some monsters there. Leon agrees to it, but denies that he'll need any help-- he has Chal, after all.
Chal: Young Master, haven't you been being nice to everyone recently?
Leon: I don't think so.
Chal: But Marian said that recently you've changed.
Leon: I just said, I don't think I've been being particularly nice.
Chal: [insistent] Well, even so! But there's really no need to be nice to everyone...
Leon: Chal, why are you mad?
Cresta
It turns out the knight stationed in Cresta isn't the one who's seen the monster-- it's a girl at the orphanage. Leon goes to check it out.
Orphan Girl: Hey, hey, mister, let's play!
Orphan Boy: Come on, isn't big sister always saying not to play with strangers?!
Girl: Ehhhh~~
Boy: Anyway, what do you want, mister?
Leon explains that he's here about the monster rumor. The girl says that big sister went out with the nuns a bit ago, and she doesn't know when they'll get back.
Boy: But it's okay! We were there when she saw it, too!
Leon: Really?
Girl: It's true~! Everyone was playing down at the ocean.
Leon: Ocean? The beach to the north?
Girl: ? North? Hey, what's north?
Boy: North is, um. ... it's the sky!
Girl: Wow, you know everything!
Leon: ... in any case...
He presses them for more information. The boy explains that at an island nearby the beach, there was a huuuuge building.
Leon: Building?
Girl: Yep, I saw it. It's, what is it, that Oberon thing.
Leon: ... is that right. In any case, I'll try looking there.
Boy: Hey, mister, next time come play with us!
Girl: Come back again!
Chal and Leon get into an argument about the beach, involving the fact that Chal might get damaged in the ocean and the fact that Leon didn't bring a swimsuit. I. What.
At the beach, Leon fights... a bunch of starfish and a few ropers. I dunno, man. It's night when he returns to Darilshied.
Darilshied
Leon: It's gotten late.
Chal: There's still time. Let's hurry and report to the king.
Turns out the king's already gone to bed, but Leon reports to Dryden about the powerful monsters. Dryden is impressed that Leon defeated them all alone, but Leon says he wasn't alone, since it was thanks to Chal that he was able to defat them. They're praised by Dryden, and Leon relays to him that even Chal is grateful for his praise. Dryden asks if Leon has any idea what caused the powerful monsters to appear, and Leon says that since they came from the sea, maybe something is happening in the ocean.
As Leon leaves, Dryden asks him to wait. There's a meeting of the generals coming up, and he'd like to introduce Leon to the others. Leon is dumbstruck and says he'd be honored. Dryden is pleased, and tells him they'll talk more about it the next day.
Hugo's Manor
Leon: [looking around] What happened? No one's around?
Chal: I've got a weird feeling...
Leon: Marian, I'm home!
Chal: It's definitely strange.
Leon: I've got a bad feeling... Marian..!
As Leon finishes searching the last of the rooms, four cloaked figures appear.
Leon: Who the hell are you?! How did you get in here?! [draws Chaltier]
????: Is it bad that I'm here?
Leon: That voice is...!
Chal: Hugo-sama?!
Leon: [sheathes Chal] What's the meaning of that mask? I'm not interested in that kind of game...
Hugo says it's not a game at all. He has something for Leon to do.
Leon: ...?
Hugo: You'll be stealing a Flying Dragon.
Leon: Stealing a Flying Dragon? I don't know what you think you're doing, but...
Hugo: Tonight will do. We have no time. Hurry.
Leon: And if I refuse?
Hugo: ......
????: Leon, do as he says.
Leon: That voice... Balk? Even you...!
Balk: We serve a greater purpose. For that end, a Flying Dragon is necessary. Obey Hugo-sama, Leon!
Leon: I refuse!
Balk: I don't know if it's loyalty to your country that's stopping you, but...
Leon: Balk... you're wrong.
Balk: What?
Leon: If you want a Flying Dragon, you'll have to get it yourself. I won't stop you.
Balk: Leon?
Leon: [faces Hugo] It's just that I won't be made to your bidding without any reason any longer. Do you understand, Hugo?
Hugo: Is that all you wanted to say? [he extends a hand]
Leon: ...?!
The scene transitions into what we see in the original game. Afterwards, Leon finds himself agreeing to steal the Dragon.
Leon: If I steal the Dragon and bring it to the appointed place... will you promise to release Marian?!
Hugo: Don't get it wrong. The one who's making a promise is you.
Leon leaves for the castle to steal the Flying Dragon. On the way...
Leon: Just what is he planing?!
Chal: Young Master... earlier, I had a very bad feeling.
Leon: That's Hugo's true self.
Chal: No, that's not it.... how should I put it, I got an extremely awful feeling. I know, let's call for Dymlos!
Leon: And what good will that do? The one to weild him... Stahn isn't here.
Chal: If that's the case, Rutee will do. Or Philia. In any case, at this rate...
Leon: It's the same with them. They're not here. If we wait for them, what'll happen to Marian?! She's at their mercy. If anything happens to Marian... I'll...!
Chal: Young Master, even so...
Leon: Chal, the two of us have managed to do everything so far. That hasn't changed. For now, we have to go along with Hugo's plans. If we can figure out what he's planning, there'll be a chance of winning.
Chal: But...
Leon: [desperately] Chal, please. Lend me your strength. I want to save Marian.
Chal: ... I understand. I'll believe in the Young Master the way the Young Master believes in me. So, let's save Marian!
Flying Dragon
Knight: Who's there?!
Leon: Damn, this is bad!
Knight: ... huh, it's you?
Leon: Who...
Jobs: It's me, Jobs.
Chal: Ah! It's the person Young Master got promoted!
Jobs: I never thought I'd see you in a place like this. Thanks to you, I'm the head of security here. But, I didn't receive any messages that you'd be coming...
Leon: Jobs, I have a favor to ask.
Jobs: What is it? If it's a favor from you, you can ask anything.
Leon: Let me past that door.
Jobs: What are you saying...
Leon: [draws Chal]
Jobs: What are you doing?! [draws his word and back away]
Leon: Stop it. There's a difference in power between us. Please, Jobs. Leave this place.
Jobs: No. It's better if you leave.
Leon: A person's life hangs in the balance... even then?
Jobs: I haven't forgotten that you're the one who made me commander. Even so, I decided to become a great knight like you. And that's why I can't let you come any further.
Leon: Is there no helping it...?
They fight.
Leon: With strength like that, you thought you could beat me? [turns away, sadly] Don't make me laugh... [before he enters the room, he turns to look at Jobs's fallen form] I'm sorry... Jobs. I have no choice but to continue forward.
Inside the Flying Dragon:
Hugo: Well done, Leon.
Leon: I fulfilled my promise. Give Marian...!
Hugo: Let me ask one thing. What do you intend to do when Marian is returned?
Leon: ...? What are you asking?
Hugo says smugly that since he's stolen the Flying Dragon, there's no place for him to return to.
Leon: Shut up, that was you who...! [draws Chal]
Hugo turns his back to Leon and says Leon can do what he likes... but he'll never get Marian back if he does.
Leon: Tch...!
Hugo: What's wrong? Hurry. Do it quickly. Heheheh...
Leon: ... [sheathes Chal]
Hugo: What a pitiful man. And you've been pretending to be an adult? [turns to face Leon] It's fast, but this is your next mission.
Leon: Next...?!
Hugo: We are going to take back God's Eye.
Chal: ...!
Leon: God's Eye... how foolish! What the hell are you thinking?!
Hugo: [approaches Leon]
Leon: What is that?
Hugo says to use that while stealing God's Eye.
Leon: You can't be saying that I'll be the one to do it?!
Hugo: That's what I intend, but it's up to you whether or not you do.
Leon: You bastard...!
The scene changes to a different room inside the Dragon.
Chal: Young Master, there's something I'd like to ask you...
Leon: [he's silent for a long moment} ... I...
Chal: It's about God's Eye...
Leon: What should I do... saving Marian...!
Chal: Please listen, Young Master!
Leon: Shut up, Chal! I don't care what happens to God's Eye!
Chal: Let's call on Dymlos after all!
Leon: ... what?
Chal: Please listen. The real power of God's Eye is...
Leon: Is that it, Chal.
Chal: Eh?
Leon: You said you'd believe in me... was that a lie?!
Chal: That's not...
Leon: Chal... just stop talking! After all, you're just... a sword.
Chal: Young Master...
God's Eye's Seal
Chal: Young Master, let's stop after all. If you break the seal on God's Eye...
Leon: I don't want to hear anything from you. I'll... get Marian back. For that sake, no matter what it is...
Chal: Hey, Young Master... this is the place where God's Eye was sealed before, right.
Leon: [ignores him]
Chal: Young Master...
A bossfiight later, and...
Leon: God's Eye... if we had destroyed it then... [signals back] This is Leon. I've located God's Eye.
Flying Dragon
Leon: With this, I've done as you wished. Now release Marian!
Hugo asks Leon what he thinks of all this, which enrages Leon.
Leon: Don't avoid the topic!
Hugo: Answer.
Leon: Grr... for me... this is like a nightmare.
Hugo: That's right! This is a nightmare. And you're unable to wake up.
Leon: Are you saying there's more that you'll make me do...?!
Hugo: Even inside a dream you should be able to keep your composure. ... for you, this is your unending nightmare.
Outside the control room, Leon gives in to his rage and despair and slams his fist against the wall.
Leon: Dammit! If he hadn't taken Marian, that bastard!
Chal: Young Master... please don't give up. There has to be a way to win!
Leon: .......
Chal: I know you don't want to hear my voice. But, but. We're still together, aren't we?
Leon: ......
Chal: [yelling] Ahhh! Enough, already! You're just a child who can't wake up to the unchangeable reality!
Leon: What...!
Chal: Isn't that right?! You're miserable, and more than that, angry! You can't think of anything, and are just stuck in that cycle! You'll never rescue Marian like that!
Leon: Chal!
Chal: Young Master, think! There's still a chance, right?
Leon: A chance... where would something like that...
Chal: It's me. Now that we've come this far, I'm not thinking of Dymlos and the others anymore. If it's the two of us, we can do it, right?!
Leon: ...that's right, the two of us will definitely save Marian.
Chal: Yes!
Oberon Mines
Leon: What... is this place?
Chal: It seems to be some kind of mine.
Leon: That can't be... how could a Flying Dragon land in a place like that? And besides that, where did Hugo and the others go?
Chal: Young Master, let's use this opportunity to look for Marian.
Leon says he doesn't think they'd leave him alone if she was hidden somewhere he could find.
Chal: In that case, what should we do?
Leon: I don't know... but there has to be something.
Deeper in the mines, past the passworded door, there's something like an earthquake. Hugo and the others appear.
Leon: Hugo!
Hugo: It couldn't be, in the basement...?
They haven't noticed Leon yet. Balk mentions that they need to buy more time, and Hugo says they can use Leon for that.
Also revealed is the fact that Marian has just attempted to kill herself, so that she can no longer be used as a tool to manipulate Leon. Leon is devastated at this news, and forgets to hide himself.
Leon: Hugo, you bastard! [draws Chal]
Hugo: You were listening? Honestly, what a problematic person. [Belserius appears and floats to Hugo's hand.]
Chal: Why... do you have that?!
Hugo: It looks like you still don't know my power. After all, that's your limit.
Leon: Shut up! Hugo! I absolutely won't forgive you!
Hugo: Let me see your true power once more. Think of what's happened this time.
ONE VERY RIGGED BOSS BATTLE LATER...
Leon: [slumps the the floor]
Hugo: Leon, you only live because I allow you to. Don't forget that.
Leon: Keh... [he faints]
The screen goes back, and when it lightens again, Leon is in a familiar dining room.
Leon: Marian! Where are you?! [he searches for a bit, and eventually Marian enters the room.] Oh, thank god. I was wondering where you went.
Marian: [smiles] ..... In this wonderful manor, getting to look after a wonderful person like you...
Leon: Eh...
Marian: I was truly happy. Thank you, Emilio...
Leon: What are you saying, Marian?
The room fades until it's just the two of them.
Leon: Where are you going?!
Marian: [crying] Goodbye.
Leon: [reaches out to her] Wait, Marian! I... can't move! [Marian disappears] Wait!
Leon wakes up face down on the floor.
Leon: ! ... where am I...?
Chal: Young Master, you're awake!
Leon: [sits up]
Chal: This is the Flying Dragon's storeroom. And... do you remember?
Leon: Is that it... Hugo defeated me...
Chal: After that, we were shut up in here... I think around five days have passed. Young Master, you weren't waking up, and I...
Leon: Chal... I'm sorry for worrying you. But besides that, how humiliating.
Chal: That's not it! Your enemy wasn't...
Leon: ...I really am pathetic. Thinking that with Chal, I'd be invincible... Changing my name to be an adult... thinking I was not being honest about my parentage for my sister's sake... it was all just that I was only thinking of making my own circumstances better.
Chal: Please don't attack yourself!
Leon: What the hell is a master swordsman?! I couldn't even protect a single person...! Dammit! [he punches the floor again and again] Dammit!
Choking back tears, he shouts, wondering why he's so weak.
Chal: Young Master...
The door opens and Hugo enters the room.
Hugo: It seems you've woken up.
Leon: ...!
Hugo: Stand. The preparations have been made.
Leon: Stand? What are you saying? I have no more reason to follow you. Marian is...
Hugo: Marian is alive.
Leon: What...!
Hugo: [laughs] ... your luck is good.
Leon demands to know if it's true that she's alive.
Hugo: [laughs again] It's up to you whether or not you believe me.
Leon and the others take the large elevator down to the mines proper.
Leon: Will I... be able to see Marian?
Hugo is, as always, not very revealing in his answer.
Hugo: in any case, your friends have come to stop us.
Chal: Stahn and the others?!
Hugo: You understand, don't you, Leon.
Leon: [pained] ...!
Hugo says that if he betrays them and returns to his friends, his precious Marian will be...
Leon: Even if you don't say it, I understand!
Hugo: Don't forget that.
They get off the elevator.
Leon: Chal, what are you going to do?
Chal: ...eh?
Leon: Since I learned Marian was alive... I was resolved. I can still take you back. There's no need for you to overdo it.
Chal: ... what are you saying? We're always together, aren't we? If you're saying I'm not necessary now, I'll be angry!
Leon: Is that right... I'm counting on you, Chal.
Chal: Yes!
Leon: [voiceover] Even if I lose everything, Marian, I'll protect you...!
He enters the caves. The usual scene of Stahn and the others arriving and confronting them plays. In a stunning twist, I actually manage to use Leon to... beat them! Not that it really affects anything. Again, the scene is as always, cutscene and all.
During the credits, Mutsumi's illustrations of Leon scroll by, as well as the Chal part of the Swordian picture. You can save your data at the end.
